3. Rules

 I write it about a rule of the rowing today.

 I explain a position of the crew first. It call the rower who is the nearest to a bow a bow and call it with the second, the third, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the seventh and a stroke sequentially. By the competition of the lightweight, it does not matter in a kind of boats and arranges the weight restrictions of the rower including the uniform. The average weight of rowers is 70 kg or less and a boy is less than 72.5 kg in the personal weight. Rowers of the single scull are less than 72.5 kg. The average weight of rowers is 57 kg or less and a girl is less than 59 kg in the personal weight. Rowers of the single scull are less than 59 kg. The weight restrictions of the coxswain are the same as an open competition. Including a uniform, boys are 55 kg or more, and girls are more than 50 kg.

  It is a competition method next. It brings each boat in start deck every line. I start by a command called “attention, go” of the starter all at once. A position group name is called at the time of the start. For example, ”Tsukuba University, Waseda University, … attention, go” it is such a thing. However, a command hangs immediately without wind being strong and being called when the direction of the ship is not decided. “Quick start” means this. And victory or defeat is decided with the order that Top Ball of the finish line earlier of ships. When I own the report of the underweight of the ship and the member change or radio communication equipment and face a race, I am disqualified. When I make 2 degrees premature start and interfered with other ships during a race, it becomes the exclusion.

2. Boats

 I write it about rowing roughly today.

We call rowing “Soutei”,”Tantei”,”Kyousou” in Japan. Rowing is a seat back and forth and is a competition to do a race by ship to advance to with a leg power with an oar. We row a constant distance on a boat in the water and compete for order. The rule is simple. However, in the characteristic of the competition, a result greatly depends on the natural condition and weather. The tournament says a regatta. The regatta is used as words to hint at the aquatic meeting including the yacht. The etymology of the regatta comes from the boat race of the gondola.

A boat has many kinds. The boat greatly separates you, and there are a scull type and a sweep type. The scull type is the thing of the type that by one of them rows with an oar in both hands. They include single scull, double scull, quad scull. The sweep type is the thing of the type that to row with one oar with both hands. They include pair, forehand, eight.

The singe scull row alone, and the double sculls row 2 people, the quad sculls row 4 people. The pair row 2 people, the forehand row 4 people, the eight row 8 people.

In addition, coxswain plays an important role on a ship. A coxswain is the player who controls you to be able to go ahead at riding, the shortest distance forward in the tail of the ship. But it is important that each crew directs to be able to row the left right in a good balance when I cut a rudder. In addition, it’s a leader like role of ship to think about pace, and to give instructions to crew, and to measure time, and to put spurt, and to tighten crew, and to heap up. A small-sized person is often employed in coxswain to reduce the weight of the ship even a little.

The weight of the ship is 96kg with about 14kg, the eight heavy most by the lightest single scull. Full length of the ships is about 17m with about 7m90cm, the eight having a long it most by the shortest single scull. The eight’s speed is fast, and becomes about 20km per an hour most. However, there is awful sense of speed even if the bodily sensation speed in the water is called 20km per an hour further!

 I talk to the rowing today.

 The history of the rowing dates back to the ancient times when I consider it as means of traffic and the war. It’s the 18th century – about the 19th centuries that rowing became the present style. It’s said that it began in U.K. and North Europe nearly 200 years ago. The record that the modern race using the gondola was held in Italy in the 14th century is left. It became popular around Europe. It without a rule decided in particular, the form of the race varied in those days.

Next, I talk to the Japanese rowing.

 In the sports of Japan, the rowing is old next to baseball. It was called the sports of the gentleman, and there was the place that knew old samurai mind to destroy a self in Japan a bit and was got close to many people. There is not the correct record, it’s said that it’s the Dutchman who lived in Nagasaki to have rowed a boat first in Japan. A boat race was carried out between a foreigner living in Japan with a visit to Japan British for the first time in 1869 and was adopted as club activities in Teikoku University in middle part of Meiji era. An opposition race by Tokyo University and Tsukuba University which became the Japanese first race in 1883 was held afterwards. The first Soukei regatta was held in the Sumida River of Tokyo in 1905, and the rowing spread afterwards in the whole country led by a university. Rowing club was established in a high school and the junior high school in 1887. The Soukei regatta greeted 82 times, the 108th year in 2013 while sandwiching the interruption such as the war. The Soukei regatta produced a lot of nice games in the past long history. The nice game of the 26th meeting was placed in the textbook of the morality.

 It was such a rowing of Japan, but was not able to readily a good grade in world grade. However, Japan won the first gold medal by the world championships of 2000. And the representative from Japan went into the finals in 2 meeting by the Sydney Olympics of the same year and the Athens Olympics of 2004. In this way, Japan acquires power steadily.

 The rowing is said to be a minor sport, but is splendid sport with the old history!
